THE MIDNIGHT SUN

This is the Sun, but it is no ordinary sunset (or sunrise). This is the Sun as seen from Bettles, Alaska at 1 a.m. Alaska Daylight Time (AKDT) on June 22, 2006, the Summer Solstice for short. The Sun is not setting, but simply grazing the horizon. So, there was no sunset, and therefore no sunrise on this day. It was basically 24-hour sunlight.
