TURNAGAIN ARM

This is a small portion of the extremely beautiful Turnagain Arm of the Cook Inlet. As the story goes, Captain Cook was trying to find a river, and when he could not find it, he had to TURN AGAIN! Get it? That is what gave Turnagain Arm its name. I took this image from the New Seward Highway which is the main highway that connects Anchorage to Seward in the Kenai Peninsula. The majestic Kenai mountains can be seen in the background. A late snowfall in late May makes the mountains look much taller than the 3000 feet they actually are.
